Version 2.3.1Latest in this history

Trove 2.3.1 — Mac startup and connection fixes

iOS ·

macOS ·

A Mac startup crash fix, more reliable SMB connections and two Apple Watch transfer fixes.

  • On iOS and Mac: improves SMB connection recovery when a server name resolves to multiple network addresses. Network sources still require Trove Pro and a reachable server.
  • On iOS and Mac: adds connection-stage and address-family details to optional SMB troubleshooting diagnostics. Recording stays off by default; reports are sent only when you explicitly submit feedback.

On iPhone and iPad

  • On iPhone and iPad: fixes a disabled Send button when first opening a playlist’s Apple Watch transfer screen.
  • On iPhone and iPad: shows song titles instead of file identifiers in the Apple Watch device inventory.

On Mac

  • On Mac: fixes a crash that could prevent Trove 2.3 from opening, including after a fresh installation. Ordinary playback remains available if the optional Sound Style component cannot load.

Trove 2.3 — More control over your sound, library and listening

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 2.3 adds sound profiles, clearer artist browsing, playlist transfers to Apple Watch and more ways to control playback.

  • Shape playback with optional reverb, delay and EQ filters, save complete sound profiles, and compare with the original sound. Measure local track or album loudness on request. These playback controls are separate from the experimental Supporter audio tools.
  • Find collaborators from feat., ft., featuring or semicolon credits under their own artist entries, and sort an artist’s albums by year. Read Grouping, Mood and file ratings from Ogg, OGA and Opus during import or re-reading; explicit edits in Trove remain separate.
  • SMB M3U imports better handle copied Mac volume paths and files that are readable even when an ancestor folder cannot be listed. Network access still requires Trove Pro, valid server permissions and a working connection.
  • Translate lyrics on device on iOS 18 or macOS 15 and later, with supported languages and any required Apple language downloads. Translation is separate from Supporter’s experimental lyric transcription.
  • Improved ReplayGain peak protection, playback recovery and highlighting of features you already own.

On iPhone and iPad

  • On iPhone and iPad, swipe down from empty player space to collapse it while preserving controls and scrolling. Shortcuts can select local songs, albums, artists and playlists; skip-intro and skip-outro rules leave the original files unchanged.
  • With Pro on iPhone and Apple Watch, send a snapshot of a playlist’s displayed order, including repeated songs, with progress and retry controls. Both apps must be updated; only supported local audio can be sent. Watch playback adds seeking, speed, sleep options and saved position. Local lyrics remain available for individual song transfers; whole-playlist lyrics are not included in this update.
  • Rain and Spectrum Bars music visualizations are now available on iPhone and iPad.

Trove 2.2 — Saved EQ presets and experimental audio tools

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 2.2 adds saved EQ presets, improved artwork and eight experimental audio tools for Supporter.

  • Save named equalizer presets with preamp gain, restore your latest Custom curve, and manage, rename or delete saved presets.
  • Improved embedded artwork for Opus files and artwork in WebDAV libraries.
  • Supporter adds vocal/accompaniment separation, ringtone file creation, chord/key/beat analysis, practice recording and mixing, audio cleanup, CUE or manual track splitting, lyric transcription and alignment, and melody-to-MIDI export.
  • All eight audio tools are experimental bonuses. Results and reliability are not guaranteed; review generated audio, notes and lyrics before using them. Existing Pro features and purchases are unchanged.
  • Audio processing is local by default. Optional remote lyric transcription sends only a selected clip after your confirmation to a compatible service you configure; provider charges may apply.

Trove 2.1 — A more connected listening experience

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 2.1 improves player layouts, navigation and lyrics editing continuity.

  • Browse related albums and artists, then return to where you left off.
  • Keep lyrics drafts, AI inputs and generated results when visiting search, timing or settings pages.
  • Clearer navigation in settings, Google Drive and MEGA. Fixed missing lyrics in FLAC files with embedded LYRICS tags.

On iPhone and iPad

  • The player fills the app window and adapts its player, queue and Sound & Timer layouts to the space available on iPhone and iPad. Wide layouts can show controls side by side.

Trove 2.0 — More music sources and four App languages

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 2.0 adds Google Drive and MEGA playback with Trove Pro, plus Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and French alongside English.

  • Choose audio explicitly in the Google file picker, keep a saved song list and cached audio, and remove entries without deleting Drive originals (Trove Pro).
  • Connect your own MEGA account to browse music folders, play compatible audio while it downloads and prepare the next song in the background (Trove Pro).
  • Use English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese or French, including shared Watch and widget text and the Wi-Fi Transfer page.
  • Clearer buffering feedback for network audio. Some formats still require a complete download before playback; a playback cache is not a permanent offline library.

Trove 1.9 — Folder search, WebDAV libraries and Favorites

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.9 adds deeper folder search, WebDAV library indexing, Favorites sorting and free reference-pitch presets.

  • SMB scans can retry temporary disconnections and retain scan progress. On iPhone and iPad, scanning saves a checkpoint in the background and can continue after you return to the app (Trove Pro).
  • Search a local folder and its subfolders for songs and folders, rather than searching only the current directory.
  • Explicitly add chosen WebDAV folders to the library, search subfolders and play indexed tracks while connected. Use Update Library for changes on the server (Trove Pro).
  • Targeted SMB timeout callback and file-handle cleanup fixes improve stability; server permissions and network failures can still interrupt access (Trove Pro).
  • Choose free Original, A4 432 Hz or C5 528 Hz reference-pitch presets independently of playback speed. These apply a fixed pitch shift; they do not detect the recording’s original tuning.
  • Sort Favorites by title, artist, album, date added or date favorited. The chosen order is used for its playback queue and M3U export; sync-file transfer preserves favorite dates for matching songs.
  • View the file name and copy a safe source path in song information for free. Displayed remote URLs omit credentials and query information. This does not rename or move a file.
  • Move from a song to its album or artist, from an album to its artist, and from an artist’s album heading to album details while keeping your browsing context and playback queue.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Improved playback recovery after another app interrupts audio on iPhone and iPad, while respecting a deliberate pause or stop.
  • Always-visible search entry points in Songs, Albums and Folders on iPhone and iPad. These search-entry changes are iOS-specific.

Trove 1.8 — Playlist direction, remembered browsing and Mac visualizations

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.8 adds forward or reverse playlist playback, remembers your browsing location and improves playback stability.

  • Play playlists in forward or reverse order while keeping the saved song order.
  • Return to your previous Browse section and local folder when reopening Trove.
  • Improved playback stability when pausing, resuming and crossfading.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Customize the library tabs on iPhone with Trove Pro.

On Mac

  • Try the free Experimental Rain and Spectrum Bars visualizations from Now Playing. These arrived in Mac 1.8.

Trove 1.7 — More reliable NAS playlists and playback recovery

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.7 improves remote smart playlist indexing and fixes an unexpected volume drop during playback recovery.

  • Remote smart playlist indexing handles folders that cannot be accessed more reliably (Trove Pro).
  • Playback recovery no longer unexpectedly lowers the volume.
  • Playback diagnostics and reliability are improved.

Trove 1.6 — M3U imports, AirPlay and local diagnostics

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.6 improves playlist importing, SMB browsing and troubleshooting, with an AirPlay shortcut on iPhone and iPad.

  • SMB browsing is more responsive, and playback preparation runs away from the main interface (network sources require Trove Pro).
  • Optional diagnostic recording stays on your device and is off by default. Create a package to export or explicitly attach it to feedback; it is never uploaded automatically.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Fixed the blank file picker when importing M3U playlists on iOS.
  • Added an AirPlay route shortcut to the bottom Now Playing bar on iPhone and iPad.

Trove 1.5 — Continuous shuffle and clearer Wi-Fi imports

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.5 keeps shuffle playing, improves SMB indexing and Wi-Fi import feedback, and lets you send feedback without a Mail account.

  • Shuffle starts a new shuffled round when the current round ends, instead of stopping.
  • SMB browsing and indexing improve timeout recovery and metadata for remote smart playlists (Trove Pro).
  • Wi-Fi transfer progress and import results are clearer.
  • Send feedback directly from Trove, attach diagnostics if you choose, or save a complete feedback package.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Improved playback recovery when skipping, pausing or stopping while a track loads.

On Mac

  • Improved access to imported music folders and playback recovery.
  • Addressed an audio initialization crash, reduced repeated artwork decoding, and improved the feedback window.

Trove 1.4 — SMB playlists, listening history and library storage

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.4 adds playlists from SMB folders, remote smart playlist indexing, Grouping and Mood tags, and listening history.

  • Open an M3U playlist on an SMB share, save a network folder as a playlist, or index a chosen SMB folder for smart playlists (Trove Pro). Tracks download as needed for playback; your originals stay on the server.
  • View and edit Grouping and Mood, with supported MP3 and FLAC file write-back in Trove Pro. Ratings read from files remain separate from ratings you set in Trove.
  • Listening history records a play after ten seconds, or when a shorter track finishes.
  • Storage shows music kept on this device, excluding external drives and network servers.
  • Edit an existing SMB connection without recreating it; M3U import results are clearer.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Listening history and Storage are available in More.
  • Improved Apple Watch transfer and playback recovery.

On Mac

  • Open listening history from the Library menu and device usage from Storage.

Trove 1.3 — Write tags to files and play through NAS folders

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.3 adds audio tag write-back, re-reading tags, smoother NAS folder playback and improvements for large music libraries.

  • Write edited tags into supported FLAC, MP3 and M4A files, individually or in batches (Trove Pro). Unedited fields are preserved; unwritable files are reported.
  • Re-read tags after editing files in another app. Empty file tags do not erase values you entered in the library.
  • Play through a WebDAV or SMB folder with skip and shuffle (Trove Pro). Server tracks show embedded artwork and metadata; downloads preserve folders and pick up cover.jpg.
  • Add albums, artists, genres, composers and playlists to the queue, or play them next.
  • Improved large-library importing and browsing, folder relocation handling, accented names, crossfade handoff and Repeat One progress.

On iPhone and iPad

  • Track numbers fit at larger text sizes.

Trove 1.2 — CarPlay, a play queue and help with messy tags

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.2 introduces CarPlay on iPhone, an editable play queue, lyrics and artwork lookup, and more ways to organize your library.

  • Reorder or remove upcoming songs, jump ahead, and add songs without interrupting playback.
  • Look up lyrics and artwork, use cover.jpg or folder.jpg, and review MusicBrainz suggestions for song information. Automatic lookup is optional and starts off.
  • Edit tags for multiple songs, browse composers, import and export M3U playlists, and move playlists, favorites and ratings with a sync file.
  • Shuffle remembers its place, long tracks can resume where you stopped, and optional ReplayGain leveling reads track or album tags.
  • Improved library import performance and accented text. Song-info fixes in this version update the library; file write-back arrives in 1.3.

On iPhone and iPad

  • CarPlay browses on-device playlists, albums, artists and songs, with alphabetical pages for large libraries.
  • Improved FLAC tags and artwork on iPhone and iPad, plus Bluetooth and car track changes.

On Mac

  • Open the play queue from Play → Queue (⌘U).

Trove 1.1 — An iPad sidebar and the first Mac release

iOS ·

macOS ·

Trove 1.1 brings an adaptive sidebar to iPad and marks the first public macOS version.

On iPhone and iPad

  • The iPad layout switches between a sidebar and a tab bar as the window width changes, keeping your place.
  • Library, playlists, network sources and settings are accessible from the sidebar.

On Mac

  • Trove becomes available on Mac from the same App Store listing.
