Trove scans and organizes
Tags, album art, lyrics and duration are read in the background, and a cover.jpg or folder.jpg beside the music counts as album art. Your library appears organized by songs, albums, artists and composers.

One-time Pro purchase, same NAS on Mac and iPhone
Yes: buy Trove Pro once on the same Apple Account and use its SMB or WebDAV network-source unlock on both Mac and iPhone. There is no subscription or separate Mac purchase. The NAS files can be the same, but the app does not automatically make one shared music library across your devices.
- Prepare the NAS. Enable an SMB share on your home network or a securely reachable WebDAV service, and give your music account permission to read the files. Trove does not require a separate Plex-like music server, but it cannot replace this NAS setup.
- Unlock and connect each device. Sign in to the same Apple Account for the Pro purchase. In Trove on Mac and iPhone, add the same SMB or WebDAV source separately with its address, share or path, and NAS credentials. Use SMB on your local network; away from home, use a properly configured HTTPS WebDAV endpoint or a VPN. See the iPhone NAS fields and offline steps or the WebDAV setup guide.
- Listen and choose offline music. Browse and play the server files from either device while it can reach the NAS. Each device keeps its own local library and downloaded copies. Network playback's temporary fetch is not an offline copy: explicitly download or import the songs you need on each device. On iPhone, use Download to Library or Download All and wait for the files to appear locally before going offline.
Playlists and playback position do not automatically sync. The optional .trovesync file is a manual export/import for hand-built playlists, favourites and ratings; it is not audio and unmatched songs cannot be added to a playlist on the other device. Apple Watch requires explicit Pro song transfers for offline playback; it does not connect to the NAS. CarPlay reads the iPhone's on-device library, not a live share.
