Where the album art comes from
Searches go directly to Apple's public iTunes catalog. Images download directly from Apple's CDN. Catalog coverage and image sizes depend on the release and country.
Which size should you pick?
Smaller files suit embedded tags. Source image requests up to 10000 pixels and can retrieve artwork larger than 3000 pixels when available. It does not upscale or promise a particular resolution.
Album art FAQ
Quick answers about sources, sizes and usage.
Can I paste an Apple Music album URL?
Yes. Paste an album link to look up that exact album ID in its store country. Song, artist and playlist links are not supported. If the album is missing from the public iTunes catalog, try another store or a name search; we do not silently substitute another edition.
Where does the album art come from?
From Apple's public iTunes Search API and artwork CDN — the same source the iTunes Store and Apple Music use. Your search goes directly from your browser to Apple; nothing passes through our servers.
Is this an iTunes artwork finder?
Yes. Search the public iTunes catalog, choose a store country, and download artwork directly from Apple. Availability can differ from Apple Music.
What resolution can I download?
Source image requests up to 10000 pixels. Smaller requests are 600, 1200 and 3000 pixels. Apple may return less; the downloaded filename and confirmation show the actual dimensions. This is not a guarantee of an original maximum.
Is this album art finder free?
Yes, completely free — no account, no watermark, no limits. It's built by the team behind Trove Player, a local music player for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Why can't I find a specific album?
The artwork must exist in Apple's catalog for the store country you selected. Try switching the country (a Japanese pressing may only exist in the Japan store) or searching by the artist name instead of the album title.
Can I use the artwork in my music library?
Downloading covers to tag your own rips and purchases is the classic personal use this tool is made for. The artwork itself remains the property of its rights holders — don't use it commercially.
How do I embed the downloaded cover into my music files?
Open your tag editor (Mp3tag, Kid3 or MusicBrainz Picard on desktop), select the album's tracks, and drop the downloaded JPEG onto the cover field. Alternatively, save it as cover.jpg or folder.jpg inside the album folder — most players, including Trove, pick folder images up automatically.
Is there a limit or a batch mode?
There is no daily limit — search and download as much as you like. Each search returns up to 30 albums or songs at once, and every result has its own download buttons, which covers most tagging sessions without a dedicated batch mode.
